
This CCD image was taken with a Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 (operating at f/4), the Mandel Wide Field Imaging Adapter, SBIG ST10XME camera, CFW8 and Custom Scientific 3nm H-a filter. It is the combination of 36, 20-minute exposures. That is to say...12 hours of exposure time to capture this faint object! The images were processed using MaxImDL and Photoshop.
This PN is huge, 1.6 degrees of sky. It
is only about 390 light years distant and it is the closest PN to Earth
ever discovered.
