This CCD image was taken with an SBIG ST8E camera
with a H-alpha filter. It is the combination of 10, five-minute exposures.
The images were processed using Mira, CCDSharp, MaxIm DL and Photoshop.
My friend Ray Gralak provided critical help and advice with the processing.
This nebula is part of a larger Eta Carina complex. Named after the
exploding star which was photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope, this
nebula is one of the most glorious in our galaxy. The image was taken
from Coonabarabran, NSW, Australia. It was imaged through an AP 5"
f/6.
