The rays coming out of these craters are ejected material from ancient meteor impacts.
This CCD image was taken with an SBIG ST10E camera. It is a single one millisecond exposure using a H-a filter. The images were processed using MaxIm DL and Photoshop. It was shot through an AP 7" f/9.
Image processing was done with the help of Philip Perkins in Wiltshire, England.
The image was taken from Hidden Valley Observatory, on my property in
Soquel, overlooking the Monterey Bay in California.
